Sara Maeglin is an Attorney at Lowrey Parady Lebsack. She has happily been with the firm for over four years. Ms. Maeglin considers herself an “accidental” attorney. She didn’t grow up wanting to be an attorney or with visions of the Supreme Court; she just realized in college that if she wanted to do the things she wanted to do—help, in a small way, to end inequality—law was the best vehicle to do it. Ms. Maeglin’s focus from the beginning of her legal practice through today is to protect the rights of women, the underprivileged, and those who have been discriminated against. Her clients, employees and workers, are at the center of her practice and what motivates her to practice law.
Ms. Maeglin grew up in the (often freezing) Chicago suburbs. After high school, she went on to the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and a minor in Gender & Women’s Studies. After college, Ms. Maeglin immediately entered law school at the University of Colorado Law School in Boulder, Colorado. In addition to her participation on the law school’s Moot Court team and Law Students for Reproductive Justice, Ms. Maeglin excelled in her academics, ending her law school career in the top 15% of her class. Pleased with Colorado’s tolerable winters, Ms. Maeglin stayed in the state to practice after law school.
In her free time, Ms. Maeglin spends time with her husband (also an attorney, boring, right?) and son; watches too much television; reads a good deal of Kurt Vonnegut, Colson Whitehead, and historical non-fiction; and obsesses over her two cats, Prisca (a tabby) and Zorro (a tuxedo).
